Trains Resume Running on Single Line to Visakhapatnam

HYDERABAD: The rail route to Visakhapatnam from Vijayawada has been reopened to  traffic from Tuesday afternoon.

The railway track on Down line towards Visakhapatnam has been made fit for traffic and the trains will be operated on single line. Train 18520 Lokamanya Tilak Terminus to Visakhapatnam passed smoothly on the restored line at 3:45 pm.

Work on restoring the second line is also being undertaken on a war-footing and is likely to be cleared for traffic from Wednesday.

Heavy rains breached the track at several locations on the Elamanchili-Narsingapalli-Bayyavaram stretch. The SCR administration swung into immediate action to restore the track by deploying men and material on a massive scale and could restore rail traffic in 32 hours thanks to thorough planning and speedy execution of work.

In addition to the men, machines and material pressed into service on Monday, the SCR deployed more men, heavy earthmoving equipment and track material on Tuesday to repair the track in the earliest possible time. More info
