Traffic cops take shrill bus horns head-on

MANGALURU: The Mangaluru City Traffic Police’s (MCTP) new drive called ‘Stop Shrill Horn’ to crack down on city buses that use air horns has generated enormous online response.

Through ‘Stop Shrill Horn’, the city traffic cops have started intercepting city and service buses to check the horns. If air horns with high decibel sound output are found, then the city traffic cops remove them using tools and crush them on the spot. The bus conductors are also made to pay penalty of Rs 100.

The MCTP has already removed air horns from over 70 buses in the city within two days. They are planning to continue the drive, if these violations continue. More info
