Three years on, Hyderabad Metro rail project heading nowhere

HYDERABAD: Three years, multiple revisions, and recurring controversies later, there still seems to be negligible clarity over the future of Hyderabad’s metro rail project launched to transform the Nizam’s Land into a ‘commuter-friendly, modern and green city’.

Officials of the Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) continue to be clueless about just when they can roll out the first train, even as citizens battle their way through Hyderabad’s roads, many of which have shrunk by half their size – courtesy the ongoing metro construction.

The large-scale demolition of properties, in order to make way for metro stations or widen existing roads for vehicular movement, has only made matters worse. More info
