Telangana seeks rail coach factory, better connectivity

Telangana Monday urged Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu to set up rail coach factory and improve rail connectivity in the state as stipulated in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisaton Act.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao told Prabhu during a meeting here that the state government will facilitate the availability of required land for coach factory.

He also called for initiating the work on wagon manufacturing unit at Kazipet in Warangal district. The project was sanctioned during 2012-2013 at an estimated cost of Rs.152.26 crore.

KCR, as the chief minister is popularly known, called for a new railway division at Kazipet to meet the requirements of the newly-created state.

Prabhu, who called on the chief minister at the state secretariat, responded positively to the demand for speeding up work on pending railway projects in the state. More info
