BHOPAL: In a major setback to Madhya Pradesh government, a railway court in Gwalior rejected its plea for withdrawal of cases against Union minister Narendra Singh Tomar and BJP national vice -president Prabhat Jha, stating they were in ‘public interest’.

After hearing the appeal, Gwalior railway magistrate O P Raghuvanshi ruled on Friday that state government cannot make this plea as the case in question was related to Railways, which falls under jurisdiction of central government.

Magistrate also pointed out the case was registered by Government Railway police (GRP) which at that point of time was functioning under Election Commission of India like all other government offices. More info
