Prabhu Brings Pizzas and Pizzazz to Railways

NEW DELHI: Indian Railways is set to introduce a host of e-services for passengers, including e-catering and e-commerce. The highlight of the amenities makeover, however, is delectable cuisine onboard.

Passengers would soon be able to place orders for a variety of cuisines ranging from pizzas to Hyderabadi biryani, burgers and kathi rolls from popular eating joints such as Dominos and Pizza Corner.

Choosing the food menu will be an option available in around 143 trains across the country by the end of this year. E-catering is available in six trains at present and will be extended to 25 trains by March 2015.

IRCTC has already tied up with over two-dozen well-known eating joints for providing a multi-cuisine fare to passengers. All that the travellers would have to do is book the menu through the e-catering service on IRCTC website before their journey, mentioning the station they would like the food to be served at.

Talks are already on with Pizza Hut, Nathus, Bengali, Haldirams and Bikanerwala to provide their food specialties in the trains. More info
