Passengers stranded at Yeshwantpur station

BENGALURU: The railways, which has an image of “delayed” arrival and departures, left 200-odd passengers stranded at Yeshwantpur station as a train left hours before the “scheduled time intimated to them”.

The Bengaluru-Secunderabad Garib Rath left at 1.30pm, the new departure time, but many passengers reached the station around 7pm, as the old departure time was 7.15 pm.

Sources within the railways blamed the gaffe on the lack of coordination between the IRCTC and South-Western Railways.

The chaos reflected on the internet. Many websites continued to show the old departure time, while some showed both 7.15pm and 1.30pm. The tri-weekly Garib Rath between Bengaluru and Secunderabad was earlier scheduled to depart at 7:15pm from Yeshwantpur on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. However, the IRCTC informed only some passengers about the change in timings, and a sizeable chunk was left out. More info
