Now, pay through EMI for your railway tickets

New Delhi: In a big relief for railway passengers in the festive season, the Indian Railways has tied up with Citibank to allow its credit card holders to avail train tickets on Equated Monthly Installments (EMIs).

The initiative is likely to help passengers who book tickets on premium trains. It may be noted that while the railways have launched premium trains to meet the festive rush, the ticket cost of these trains is thrice as that of the regular trains and at some instances the rail fares even surpass the cost of air travel.

As per the new EMI scheme, Citibank will pay the entire train fare amount to the Railways and will collect the fare from the traveler later via EMIs. But the facility is available only via online ticket booking. While purchasing the ticket online, the website will give the option of payment via EMI. More info
