Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation proposes overhaul for stations

Though plans for redevelopment of Borivali, Dadar and Kurla railway stations have been scrapped, officials of the Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation (MRVC) have made a proposal for redevelopment of 20 stations, which is to be presented to the new government after the state Assembly polls.

The Asian Age first reported scrapping of redevelopment plans for Kurla and Dadar stations on August 13 where we said that the Railway Board had rejected the proposal even though the state government had given its nod to sharing in the cost of the Rs 250-crore project on a 50-50 basis.

MRVC officials, however, are unfazed and are coming up with a proposal to redevelop 20 stations across the Central, Western and Harbour lines.

“Our initial proposal to redevelop Borivali, Kurla and Dadar was scrapped, but we are thinking of creating the same kind of connectivity for these 20 stations,” said an MRVC official on condition of anonymity. More info
