THANE: The chief minister’s sanction for the Wadala-Ghatkopar-Thane-Kasarvadavali metro corridor on Thursday has brought considerable cheer to city residents.

However, due to the metro, plans for two proposed civic transport projects — light rail transit system (LRTS) and bus rapid transit system (BRTS) — might be shelved or redesigned. These projects were planned along the metro corridor in the city.

The 32-km long metro corridor with 24 underground and six elevated stations will run along the Eastern Express Highway and Ghodbunder Road after it enters Thane and till it reaches Kasarvadavali.

“The metro is likely to have 12 halts in the city at Teen Haath Naka, RTO, Mahapalika Marg, Cadbury junction, Majiwada, Kapurbawdi, Manpada, Tikuji-Ni-Wadi, Patlipada, Waghbil, Anand Nagar and Kasarvadavali,” said a senior official of MMRDA. More info
