Bangladesh capital tackles congestion and pollution with metro scheme

John McAslan & Partners (JMP) has won an international competition to design 16 stations in Dhaka.

The $3 billion project involves creating a string of stations along a 20km overhead rail line linking a residential district in the north of Bangladesh’s capital to the business centre in the south.

The rail line is part of a wider urban strategy of decentralisation to address the growing problems of traffic congestion and air pollution. More info
