Maharajas’ Express, India – and the budget alternative

The experience

“Something was missing when I stepped off the train, and it wasn’t just a temperature reading in the early forties. Where were the turbaned musicians, the dancers balancing bowls on their skulls, the smiling women dabbing vermilion dots on foreheads and draping garlands over shoulders? And where was the red carpet?

After a week on the Maharajas’ Express, India’s new luxury train, the 7.57 from Stoneleigh to Clapham Junction was a bit of a comedown.” MK (follow this link to find out more)
