IRCTC to operate special tours

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd. (IRCTC) will operate special train tours from the State. The first of four tours of the ‘Frontier Special Tourist Train’ will commence on June 27 from Thiruvananthapuram.

The 10-day tour will cover major tourist destinations including Agra, Delhi, Amritsar, Jaipur and Goa.

According to a release, air-conditioned (AC) coaches have been introduced for the tour following repeated public demands. The special train consists of 13 coaches of which seven are Sleeper class, two AC 3-Tier and one AC 2-Tier.

The train is equipped with one pantry car and two power cars. It has a total carrying capacity of 700 tourists with 190 in the AC classes and 510 in the Sleeper class.

Those interested will be able to choose from three categories of package.

The Economy category will include a Sleeper class journey, hall accommodation, vegetarian meals and non-AC road transfers at a rate of Rs. 9,100 per person. More info
