PATNA: Buoyed up by tremendous increase in sale of e-tickets in 2014, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is now focusing on popularizing its venture, ‘Rolling Deposit Scheme’ (RDS) for frequent train travellers.

Under the scheme, passengers can book berths/seats against advance money kept with the IRCTC. The whole process is a hassle free exercise for the people booking their e-tickets online on the IRCTC website. IRCTC had introduced this scheme last year. But it is picking up slowly due to lack of awareness among the users. IRCTC manager cum PRO Sandip Dutta said the IRCTC has worked out details of the RDS scheme.

Under the plan, a user is required to deposit money in advance with the IRCTC and can use it as a payment option while booking e-tickets from IRCTC site online, he said adding people’s response has not been satisfactory so far.

According to an IRCTC group general manager, the new scheme is likely to reduce the payment gateway time for the users as money will be deducted from their IRCTC account. At present the IRCTC is accepting payments from any bank used by users to book their e-tickets with the help of credit cards or debit cards. More info
