Patna: Buoyed by tremendous response from passengers booking their journey tickets online, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has formally introduced a lucky draw system from January this year for the new users who register and book at least one ticket during the week from Monday midnight to Sunday next midnight on its e-ticketing website.

According to IRCTC PRO Sandip Dutta, four lucky users are being selected randomly by computerized draw every Monday. If Monday happens to be a holiday, the draw is held on the next working day. The list of lucky draw winners are being displayed on the IRCTC website. Details of the scheme are available on the IRCTC website, he said.

Dutta said the first lucky winner gets a laptop while second and third winners get a smartphone each and the fourth winner gets a New Delhi-Mata Rani package free for one person. He said the IRCTC had introduced this scheme on trial basis in the last week of September 2014. So far, 17 lucky draws have been conducted and 17 laptops, 34 smartphones and 15 Mata Rani packages distributed among the winners.

Besides, a monthly draw is also being introduced and the winners will get Apple Macintosh and two Apple I-phone 6 as first, second and third prizes, respectively. More info
