IRCTC e-catering set to go places

From the existing three, the e-catering service of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd (IRCTC) is to be taken to 30 more stations across the South Central Zone.

Reserved rail travellers using the service can order food from a range of food joints online and have it served at their seat if the train is passing through one of the select stations. In less than six months since its launch, the response to the service is good at the Secunderabad, Vijayawada and Tirupati stations. Around 200 meals are supplied everyday at the three stations, says D.L.V.S.S Varma, Deputy General Manager of IRCTC SCZ.

Aurangabad, Hyderabad, Kacheguda, Kadapa, Gudur, Guntur, Kakinada, Kazipet, Khamman, Kurnool, Nanded, Nellore, Raichur and Warangal are among the stations where the service is to be extended. What this would mean is that IRCTC would empanel more food outlets ready to supply to train passengers passing through the select stations. More info
