Indian Railways hit by another train accident; two killed in collision

Two persons were killed when a truck collided with an Indian Railways goods train at a level crossing in Chandil-Purulia section of South Eastern Railway today and the train subsequently derailed.

The collision took place between Kantadih and Tamna stations in Adra division and led to the derailment of the engine and 11 bogies of the train, South Eastern Railway sources said.

The derailment led to the blocking of the up and down lines of this section affecting normal train services, the sources said.

The loaded truck broke the locked gate boom at the level crossing and collided with the train this morning, the SER sources said.

Purulia Additional Superintendent of Police Dyutiman Bhattacharya said the driver and helper of the truck died in the collision. More info
