Indian Railways: Electric wire falls on train in Madhya Pradesh, halts rail traffic

An overhead electric wire fell on a moving Indian Railways Jaipur-bound superfast train triggering sparks at Betul station of Central Railway (CR) here today, following which the rail traffic on the route was hit for an hour, a railway official said.

No one was injured in the incident. As soon as the wire fell on the train, the Nagpur-based control room’s power supply tripped, Betul Railway Station Manager V K Paliwal said.

He said that train 12975 on its way to Jaipur from Mysore arrived at the station around 2.04 pm. After two minutes halt, it chugged off but before it could leave the platform, a wire fell on it from an electricity pole, triggering sparks, he said. More info
