Indian Railways: 4 new train services flagged of in Jammu and Kashmir


Four new diesel-electric multiple unit (DEMU) train services from Nowgam railway station in Jammu and Kashmir have been started today by the Indian Railways.

Union Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu, .Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed, Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh were present on the occasion along with several senior ministers of the BJP-PDP coalition government.

Prabhu said that railways is committed to improving connectivity in the state, which is vital to its well being.

“We have flagged off four new trains.We are planning to add more coaches to these trains so that more people can travel. We are in constant touch with the state government; we have decided to hold a meeting with state government once every 15 days so that problems related to improving rail network in Jammu and Kashmir can be solved,” he said.
