History of Railways exhibition a hit among devotees

ALLAHABAD: The railway exhibition at Sangam is witnessing a large number of visitors.

The history of Indian Railways has been depicted through photographs. The photograph stall has been divided into two sections. These are ‘Memorable moments of Indian Railways’ and ‘History of East India Railway.’ There are photographs showing construction of Curzon Bridge on Ganga, scene of Prayag station in 1908 station, scene of old Allahabad railway station and others.

It also has photographs of rail-cum-road Yamuna Bridge connecting Allahabad and Naini that was constructed in 1865. The expenditure incurred on constructing the bridge was estimated to be Rs 44,46,300. The government withdrew toll tax on the bridge in 1907. The work of doubling of the railway lines in 1913 is also shown. More info
