CBI registers case against IRCTC official and others

PUNE: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against an assistant manager, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), New Delh and others on the allegations that the ac-cused persons had conspired among themselves for interfering in the IRCTC booking system by installing a software programme in the com-puter systems at various offices of travel agents.

It was further alleged that in this process, the travel agent could book six separate tickets that is a maximum of 36 passengers in one-go, whereas in normal course, a person/agent could book only one ticket with maximum of six passengers at a time.

As a result, the genuine passengers were affected adversely, since the tickets were cornered by these travel agents and again sold to passengers at huge premium, thereby, the accused were making huge profits at the cost of genuine passengers. More info
