Another derailment on Central Railway delays services

Thousands of commuters were inconvenienced on Central Railway (CR) after a derailment as the engine and one general-cum-guard’s van coach of the 12112 Amravati-Mumbai Express derailed while entering platform No. 4 at Kalyan at 4:50am on Thursday.

The derailment blocked the line towards CST between Nasik and Kalyan and by the time CR authorities managed to set the line right at 7:50am for suburban trains and 8:33am for long-distance trains, several local trains during the morning peak hours had missed their schedules.

The delays and the bunching of trains resulted in a total of 63 local trains cancelled on the main line. Due to this derailment, long-distance services and suburban services were running behind schedule for 20-25 minutes on the main line, said CR officials.

Among the trains cancelled and terminated ahead of their destination were 12110/12109 Manmad-Mumbai-Manmad Panchvati Express and the 22102 Manmad-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Rajyarani Express short terminated at Nasik Road. More info
